Club Burwood RSL, our iconic Club has a rich history in the Burwood area. Originally established in 1919 as the Burwood RSL Sub Branch in Belmore Street, the Club relocated to the present site in 1950 serving the needs of local veterans and the community in general. In 1996, a comprehensive redevelopment of the Club was completed and its’ popularity soared with rapid growth in membership and patronage.
Due to the strong demand of existing facilities, zoning restrictions, a desire to diversify our offering and to provide more for the Burwood community, the Club is seeking to relocate into the town centre. The new site has been strategically acquired since 2006 and is perfectly located close to the Burwood train station, taxi rank, buses, retail and commercial centre of Burwood.
The Club’s vision for the 9,248 square metre site is to construct a “Super Club Complex” offering a state of the art venue for wonderful hospitality experiences within the one premises for all members, citizens, community groups, charities, business’s, schools - everyone! The vision is to create a style of venue that is functional for all hospitality occasions. We aim to have up-market décor with a relaxing ambience which gives patrons a million-dollar “wow-feeling”. Our aim is to have a Club whose members will be extremely proud to have in their community and which they can’t wait to return.
The Club will be the social hub of the local district, creating a plethora of jobs for local residents, making the Club the largest employer in Burwood.
The main features proposed include:
Food precinct offering a wide variety of cuisines and styles of service
Multi-functional Event and Entertainment centre
Themed Bars and Lounges
Health and fitness centre
Large safe and secure basement car park
